Kristin Marchaterre

Kristin Marchaterre lives in Morris County and graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, with minors in Psychology and History. While in college, Kristin volunteered her time assisting children within the foster care system. She joined the Family Focused Legal Solutions team in 2014.

Kristin’s favorite part of her job is assisting clients and their families through a difficult time and seeing the transition clients make throughout the process. She believes it is extremely important that the children involved have a voice. Kristin’s least favorite part of her job is handling the mounds of paperwork that enter the office daily.

Responsibilities at FFLS

As a Legal Assistant/Case Manager, Kristin is known as our “Chaos Coordinator.” She is a liaison between the clients, attorneys, opposing counsels’ offices and courthouses. She makes sure that everything is exactly where it should be, that every deadline is met, that every case is running smoothly, and that every client (and attorney, for that matter) keeps moving forward calmly and productively. In that regard, Kristin is most loved by our clients for her role as the calm voice on the other end of the phone when they anxiously call the firm for the first time — as well as being the constant friend throughout the case until the client is ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives.

Education

Kristin attended Seton Hall University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with minors in Psychology and History.

Life Outside the Office

Kristin enjoys spending her free time with her two nephews and her two nieces. It is not uncommon to find her dressing like a superhero, princess or playing baseball/football with them. She has never missed any of their games or practices. Kristin also enjoys spending time crafting and planning parties for her family and friends. She is the go-to person for party planning and is now considering charging people (yes, even her family) for all the time and money that is spent.

Kristin has an affinity for British crime shows and anything on Discovery or the history channel, reading crime novels, and spending time at the beach.

During the fall, Sunday is strictly for football. Kristin dedicates her time to the NY Giants and attends as many games as possible.

You May Not Know

• Kristin was on her high school varsity basketball team all four years. Yes, despite her height. She still has her break-away pants.
• Kristin has a nighttime snack problem with Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars and a love of Taco Tuesdays.
• Kristin is afraid of the dark and sleeps with her television on at night.
• Kristin has a love of Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote) and David Berry (Outlander).
• Kristin had the privilege of meeting David Berry at Comic Con, during which she refused to look him in the eye as he was holding her hand.
• Before deciding to work in the legal field, Kristin wanted to be an archaeologist or work for the behavioral science unit of the F.B.I.
